New Year, New Church Launch
MessageLast weekend I spoke at Skyline about hearing from God. If you need to hear from God go to our website and get the message, "How to Hear in the New Year." www.sevensdchurch.com. That doesn't sound right, I mean if you want to see what the Bible says about how to hear from God then get the message on our website.
Preview #4This weekend January 13th. The fourth and final installment of Seven SD previews and then we're ready to launch Feb. 10.
AtlantaThis week my wife and I fly to Atlanta for interviews with the North American Mission Board. This is the culmination of a six month process in order to get support for our mission in San Diego. Three days of interviews and a travel day leading up to our fourth preview, it's a lot in a week but we know we need this help and it's a great organization.
Book WritingI've begun to write my first book entitled: Church Launching while living with your Mom, your house hasn't sold, your stuff is chewed up by the three dogs that live with you, your cars break down, your clothes are still in boxes somewhere in your POD and you can't think of anything you'd rather be doing.
ChargersTrue, 13 years is a long time to wait for a playoff victory but oh it was so sweeeeet. On to Indy for the divisional round and then to New England (possibly) to ruin their perfect record! If the Bolts make it to the Superbowl I must find a way to get there. I think I can pray for that.
What I'm reading nowGood stuff. Maxwell comes full circle when he admits that a positive attitude isn't all it takes to succeed in life, "My attitude 20 years ago was, 'believe and achieve' all you have to do is believe it and make it happen.'" He goes on to say that you must add to attitude competence. For example I can believe I am a great singer and have a great attitude about singing but I don't have the competence in that area so attitude doesn't help me there.
I think the book has a great balance between learning to have a great attitude and the practical ways to go about making your attitude the difference maker in your life but not the only thing in your life. I think you'll like it even if you're not a Maxwell fan as I am.

Do you love John Maxwell? Then why don’t you marry him.

That previous comment was me, by the way. Cuz I’m not afraid to reveal who I am, dangit. And you know I’m just kiddin’, fella. Seriously though, John has been like a step-father to me.
