ReCalibrate
Time off is always good for recalibrating. It's essential for long term health and well-being. Why is it so hard to do it then? I don't know. But, I do know taking time to be refreshed takes discipline just like working hard takes discipline. It's gotta be scheduled in. You have to put it on your calendar and schedule it or the "tyranny of the urgent" will always get in the way.
ReCalibrating is also great for my most important role of husband and daddy. It's healthy to disengage from work and be totally engaged with my family for an extended period of time.
Our family spent time at a Padre game (and they won!...bonus..wasn't expecting that).
We spent time at the movies. We spent time at Mt. Hermon in the Coastal Redwoods (where I baptized my youngest boy!),
we went to the Clairemont YMCA Skate Park, we ate Ice Cream (I ate lots of Ice Cream)
and we did all of that....TOGETHER. I love my family. And I love how taking time off allows me to see the most important things in life. I don't care who you are, or who you think you are, if you don't take time off the devil will get a foothold, pure and simple (this is usually where the pastorblogger puts in a verse explaining the importance of time off) but since you already know that I'm just sayin' as Saint Kenny Chesney once said, "Live a little, have some fun..."
What do you do to recalibrate? or want to do to get away?
